| This pistol was made up for me by Charlie Kelsey. I supplied the gun and Charlie used it as a show and tell display gun for gun shows and advertising. He kept it for about two years then returned it to me. Note that it retains the hammer spur per my request. Frame has roller per my suggestion because top round in magazine tended to drag forward by closing stroke of the slide. This resulted it two problems. First, Magazine would not drop free when magazine catch was depressed. Roller held top cartridge to the rear of magazine feed lips and allowed it to drop free. Second, when the top round slid forward in the magazine feeding of that round was no longer controlled by the extractor, and push feeding was the result. This was a key reason S&W changed to a hindged extractor of the older flex designs. This pistol was supplied with holster, two spare mags, and magazine pouch as were all early Devel M39 Pistols. This practice was soon dropped by Devel. | ||||||

This pistol was built by Charlie for my first wife Mollie. It features an interchangeable front sight design. S&W M 459 adjustable rear sight. NM Barrel fitted to pistol. Aluminum frame was shortened and shaped to provide better concealment. Checkered frame and micarta ivory smooth stocks by Aron Hogue. Many other touches plus electroless nickel finish. Pistols is very accurate and has a sweet trigger. Loss of one round due to shortened frame and magazine.... Kelsey used his "Devel" extra round magazine design to bring this pistol back to a seven plus one capacity. |

| This pistol has Kelsey's unique cone bushing less barrel design using a custom Bar-sto barrel manufactured for Devel. Finished in electrofilm gray, and has the superb Devel carry bevel package. Most notable is the firing pin safety system that Kelsey patented. It is a hammer activated design that hinges out of the way of engagement when the hammer falls. Also, Kelsey modified this pistol to allow it to be carried with the safety on, but you can still cycle the slide to load or unload the pistol while it is on safe..... This gun sports one of the very first Novak rear sights. Pistol has a superb sear release and shoots beautiful groups. | ||||||
