Reliability Package

First, and probably most important, a pistol must feed reliably.  We all know how frustrating it is to have a pistol that shuts down before you get through a magazine of your favorite ammo.  We strongly recommend that you have a Reliability Package performed on your pistol.

The reliability package consists of checking extractor tension, chamber dimensions, breech face dimensions, throating and polishing the barrel, polishing the chamber, deburring the firing pin hole and polish the breech face and barrel hood.  We then test fire the pistol.

Good set of Sights

We offer our sights in a large variety of configurations from Plain Black front and rear sights to our latest state-of-the-art Bar/Dot Tritium night sights.  Each pistol is sighted in with your specified ammo and distance out to 25 yards.  Please look over our Sight Package to see which one fits your needs.

A Carry Bevel Package

A carry bevel package is a must on any carry or competition pistol.  This is done by tastefully removing all the sharp external edges.  This option aids on removing a pistol from concealment and reholstering without ripping the inside of your favorite rig or jacket.  This option does require refinishing.

A Decent Trigger Job

Here at Novak's we specialize in Personal Defense Handguns especially Browning High Powers and 1911's. Personal defense handguns differ from target handguns in the manner in which the trigger work is performed. We strive to achieve 4 to 5 pound triggers on 1911 type handguns. Brownings are somewhat different in that the trigger pivots and we will put between 5 and 6 pound triggers on 9mm models, and 6 to 7 pound triggers on 40cal. models. Trigger Jobs are tested with NRA trigger weights as the spring gauges for trigger pull measurement will not give an accurate weight on handguns with a pivoting trigger such as the Browning HP.

There are two reasons for this policy. First of all, we DO NOT install reduced power hammer springs or cut the factory standard. I believe John Browning knew a thing or two about his last design and the factory spec. of a 32 lb. spring cushions the slide from it's 300 FPS velocity and helps prevent the slide from cracking because of excessive impacting on the frame. Secondly, personal defense handguns are working firearms and "Target" triggers may cause light indent misfires or other unintended problems.
